One Boulder Plaza consists of three separate buildings.  While at CommArts I was the conceptual designer for 1301 Canyon Boulevard,18oo Broadway, and was the building designer for 1801 13th Street (shown) in addition to being the overall project master planner.  Completed in 2004, this project consists of 2 floors of below grade parking, street level retail and restaurants, and the upper three floors are class A offices.  The centerpiece of One Boulder Plaza is a plaza which converts seasonally from a wintertime ice skating rink to a summertime seating area with a water fountain, restaurant seating, and an expansion area for the Boulder Farmer’s Market. This project was done as a partnership between CommArts and DTJ Design.

Twenty Ninth Street is a new 60 acre mixed use project in Boulder, Co. Leonard Thomas was the architectural designer of this project (while at CommArts), with SEM Architects as architects of record. This project is roughly 850,000 s.f of retail and office space, and replaced the enclosed Crossroads Mall. This project is innovative and flexible to accommodate tenant needs. Twenty Ninth Street is not a re-creation of an urban village but a design that embraces the tenants needs to take the center stage. Tenants such as Nordstrom Rack, the Apple Store, and Century Theater, and The Home Depot are primary tenants. This replaced a traditional enclosed mall with an outdoor retail main street feel. This project also became the catalyst for additional urban infill around this site.
